Thanks to everyone who made our Thanksgiving week the best we’ve had. It warms my heart when we sit down with my family on Thanksgiving knowing there are Daphne’s treats putting smiles on faces for many miles.
We sold a lot of our Grandma Jane’s Apple Pies and I thought you all might like to know what goes into these delicious pies. First we mix our dough from scratch. We chill it and then hand roll each pie crust ‘til it’s just right. We peel fresh NC Mountain Grown Apples and slice them into the crust. The apples are topped with sugar and a little butter – then finished with your choice of Struesel, Lattice or Full crust of our signature flaky crust. We bake this pie until it’s golden brown. It looks like a masterpiece and taste like something from your childhood!
You noticed I said “NC Mountain Grown” Apples… we try to buy and use local products as much as we can and keep our cost to you reasonable. We also bake with Molasses that are grown and cooked within 5 miles of our bakery. We use Sweet Potatoes grown in the black sand around Darlington Sc. Our Zucchini products are made with zucchini raised on our farm in Stanly County North Carolina. We also grow some herbs and other vegetables, berries and nuts on our farm and use them when the supply is sufficient.
I sincerely hope you all had a special Thanksgiving Holiday and we hope you’ll visit us soon.

All of us at Daphne’s wishes you a Happy, Safe and Properous New Year!

We’re starting the year with some new items…

New Daffydoodle flavors:

German Chocolate – same great taste of this popular cake – in bite size portions.

Oreo Truffle Daffydoodle… our famous chocolate cake crumbes mixed with cream cheese, dipped in white chocolate and rolled in oreo cookie crumbs.. this is better than our oreo truffles to me! You got to try them.

Daphne has been baking up scones – the flavors this week are Cinnamon Chip and Raisin (filled with homemade cinnamon chips This was my first taste of Scones – and I’m hooked – a slightly sweet treat for breakfast. Also – try Orange Pecan and Vanilla – all of these were great – but my favorite was the Cinnamon Chip.

Try our new Salted Caramel Brownie.. they received rave reviews from all that tried them. They were good – but (in my opinion) not as good as our UghLee Betty Cupcakes or our Cream Cheese Brownies – these are still my favorite.

My goal is to post more frequently in 2011. So stayed tuned for more great flavors and return of our old standbys!

Have a great weekend!

What fun Mondays are at Daphne’s. Today we were trying new items for one of our customers. Connie made some amazing French loaves and oatmeal loaves. Daphne and Tiffany worked on Pumpkin Bread and Pumpkin Cookies. We also experimented with “mini-mini” pound cake bites. Of course this R&D time includes tasting each item. As I was in and out – the only thing I got to taste was the pumpkin bread. I believe it will be a keeper – excellent moist bread with a hint of spice and raisins! Delicious!!! The girls declared the pumpkin cookies a hit! The pound cake bites will require more work – they tasted OK – but did not taste or look amazing – so they did not pass the Daphne’s test!

We are prepping for our local festival: Mint Hill Madness this weekend. Come visit us during this event for lots of fun and great food!
